I am Md. Tanjil Mahmud Khan, a civil engineer and independent researcher. I enjoy working on transportation engineering problems. I completed my B.Sc. in Civil Engineering from Daffodil International University, and since then my main focus has been transportation engineering, road safety, and mobility.

My research started on the streets of Dhaka. In February 2020, I did a field traffic survey in Karwan Bazar to understand congestion from the ground level, how traffic actually moves, where it breaks down, and why jams build up. After that, I kept working on transportation topics like road safety, pavement management, traffic congestion, and mobility planning.

During my undergraduate thesis, I worked on a Pavement Management System for flexible pavements in Bangladesh, using a deflection prediction model to support maintenance planning and better decision-making. I have also published two peer-reviewed single-author journal papers in 2025, one on helmet use and safety awareness, and another on how public transport impacts traffic congestion in Dhaka.

Right now, I am looking for a fully funded PhD where I can join an active research group, help turn research into practical improvements in road safety and mobility, and keep publishing strong works.
